Made possible through the visionary generosity of distinguished alumni Dr. Jensen HUANG (Honorary Doctor of Engineering), Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, and Mr. Terry TSANG (BEng, MPhil, MBA), Founder and CEO of Madhead Limited, the HKUST Top Engineering Scholars Award was established to recognize the School’s most outstanding undergraduate and PhD students. The award traces its origins to Dr. Huang’s iconic leather jacket, which he donated to HKUST to support a fundraising initiative that led to a HK$10 million donation from Mr. Tsang and matched by The Jen-Hsun & Lori Huang Foundation. The award celebrates excellence in academic achievement, innovation, research, leadership, and societal impact, reflecting the School’s commitment to nurturing future technology pioneers.
