Studying in UST is very enjoyable if you know where to seek help. Although our school may be known for its workload, as long as you figure out a strategy it is not too difficult to thrive academically.
The first thing I liked about engineering classes is how flexible they were. Most classes don’t have a strict attendance policy and offer most lecture notes and recorded videos. Although it is good to attend all lectures (which I did), it allows one to revise with ease or catch up easily with any classes they missed - this is sometimes inevitable if you are double-booked with an important event. The classes are well-structured with a clear objective, and oftentimes many resources are provided by the school to help us learn. Other than lectures, tutorials and labs can assist us to solve problems and questions by applying what we have learned. Also, most of the professors I have met so far (especially from the computer science department) made learning genuinely fun. Them and the TA’s available for each class were open to offer any help we needed.
If you can find the right people, your peers can be of great help too. There are many intuitive people in UST, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find the right people.
