A younger version of me would often visit my grandpa in his warehouse because I absolutely loved every second I spent with him. He was the greatest mechanic I knew; from household appliances to industrial spare parts, I believed there was nothing he could not fix or build. Working hand-in-hand with my grandpa and watching him explore the repair of broken appliances from multiple angles has always felt nothing short of “cool.” Since then, my grandpa has actively been my role model, and he is the reason I dream of pursuing and developing greater proficiency in Mechanical Engineering.
Discovering that HKUST ranks among the world’s leading engineering universities immediately captured my attention. Now that I’m a student here, I am thrilled to find that the university exceeds all my expectations. The diverse backgrounds of my peers have immersed me in a vibrant new environment. Collaborating with fellow students has inspired me to persevere and take pride in my journey as an engineer.
The hands-on opportunities at HKUST are truly remarkable. I find myself immersed in labs, conducting experiments that bring theory to life and spark the same joy I felt in my grandpa’s workshop. When I am not in labs, our professors lead demonstrations that resonate deeply with me, evoking fond memories of my childhood.
As I navigate this exciting path, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities that lie ahead. I am confident that HKUST will empower me to not only hone my technical skills but also cultivate the same spirit of innovation and resilience that my grandpa embodied. I look forward to embracing every challenge and opportunity along the way.
