A younger version of me would never have imagined that he would pursue education 5 hours away from his home at that time. Studying abroad is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I can meet and get to know many different people from various backgrounds, countries, languages, and cultures. I have become independent and disciplined due to circumstances that keep pushing me to exceed my limits. Although many people think that HKUST is full of stress and tension, I believe that each of us is responsible for our way of thinking when facing problems and obstacles. Stress and tension can be sources of joy and excitement if we adopt that mindset. I feel that nothing great is easy in this world, and I believe I was born for greater things; therefore, I am confident and eager to learn and discover new things, facilitated by my education in engineering. No one can say that pursuing academics in engineering is easy, nor can anyone truly claim that engineering is a guaranteed career path after university. But beyond all that, I have discovered the art of studying engineering—the structured way of thinking logically and continuously asking “why?” about everything. University life at HKUST is not all fun, but from a broader perspective, I can feel the joy and excitement in everything I am facing now and in the future.
