Since I was young, I have always been fascinated by the incredible inventions around me, such as computers and airplanes, and I often think about how they are created. From books, I learned that thousands of significant technologies have been created in the last 50 years. The world is changing faster than ever, owing to the efforts of engineers. If scientists are the pioneers of the world who investigate new materials and theories, engineers are the foundation of humanity, building real-life items that drive the world forward for the betterment of all. Because of the power and contributions of engineering, I chose to become an engineer. Being a student at HKUST's engineering school is undoubtedly the best choice.
To me, HKUST has an indescribable charm. Ranked 47th in the world, HKUST is a young university founded just 35 years ago. Like young people, HKUST is energetic, flexible, and ambitious. During my time at school, I can feel that the environment is full of vigor and vitality as everyone strives for their future. HKUST is also outstanding in making innovations and staying current with trends, such as the high implementation of artificial intelligence in the curriculum and the flexibility offered to students in their studies. After spending a year here, I know that I entered the right school. During this year, I not only gained a lot of insight into the academic field but also greatly widened my horizons by interacting with top-level professors from around the world and students from diverse backgrounds. These experiences have greatly equipped me, and I am truly proud to be a Computer Science student in the engineering school.
This year, I am very grateful to be a part of the Engineering Student Ambassador (ESA) family. I love sharing experiences with people who may need guidance and leading events that serve the community. I am committed to serving the school to the best of my ability and building connections with students from different backgrounds in the coming years. “Once you pay, you gain.” Every effort you invest in this school will eventually return to you and become the fuel that drives you further.
