Class of 2026,
BEng in Chemical Engineering
Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering

From a young age, I have been fascinated by problem-solving, and this passion has led me to explore the vast world of engineering.

Chemical engineering, in particular, has a unique beauty in its ability to transform raw materials into valuable products that surround us in our everyday lives. This conversion and creation process makes chemical engineering so captivating to me.

At HKUST, I have had the opportunity to delve into different aspects of chemical engineering, such as food technology and waste management. These experiences have not only allowed me to hone my technical skills but have also taught me the importance of collaboration and effective communication in the engineering world.

Although my major is chemical engineering, I am deeply interested in the broader scope of engineering and its various applications. One key realization I have had during my time at HKUST is that every great invention or innovation comes as a response to a problem. Engineering, at its core, is about identifying these problems and developing creative solutions to overcome them.

In conclusion, my journey at HKUST has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of engineering as a powerful tool for problem-solving. This mindset not only applies to my engineering studies but also extends to every aspect of life. As I continue to explore various engineering fields, I look forward to expanding my knowledge and refining my abilities, ultimately using innovative problem-solving to navigate the challenges that life presents.
