When I was a kid, I was taught how to use the computer to connect with people and gain knowledge. For the first time I watched a video explaining how people solve real-world problems using an engineering mindset online, I was amazed by the intelligence of human-being. Since then, I have wished to be an engineer when I grow up. Not only because it sounded cool for a kid, but I also hope to bring convenience to the world by applying my knowledge in daily life. As a world-class university, there are many talents of different aspects at HKUST. When I chose this university, I truly believed the School of Engineering at HKUST is certainly the best place for me to pursue my dream and where I can learn from the talent.

After entering HKUST, I was fortunate to join the Division of Integrative Systems and Design (ISD) as my major. This decision has been transformative, allowing me to work on numerous hands-on projects alongside my peers. Through these projects, I have applied my skills to solve real-world problems, fulfilling my long-held aspiration. One of the most rewarding aspects of ISD is the strong support I receive from our professors. They not only guide us through our projects but also offer innovative lessons that expand our horizons. From learning about material selection for product to understanding how AI can be implemented in designs and the mechanisms behind AI, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge. These lessons have proven valuable not only in my academic projects but also in other areas of my life, sparking new interests and broadening my perspective. The ISD experience has solidified my belief that cross-disciplinary skills are essential for future engineers, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the coming years.

I am deeply honored to be appointed as the Head Engineering Student Ambassador. It’s inspiring to welcome new faces into the ESA family and witness the enthusiasm of prospective engineers. As one of the HESAs, my goal is to foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere within the ESA family and for all students in the School of Engineering. I cherish the moments when we support, play, and strive together, whether it’s during team-building activities like our training camp or while serving as student helpers during the university’s Open Day. These experiences allow us to bond, share our journeys, and connect with visitors by offering them a glimpse of university life. Being part of this dynamic and collaborative community has been incredibly fulfilling, and I look forward to continuing to inspire and support others in their engineering journey.
