For me, HKUST is filled with a strong innovative spirit and flexibility.
Struggling to decide where I should head next, I felt like this institution could let me design my own path and try various opportunities to become clearer about my future. As I spend more time here, the more I am falling for my program and appreciating the invaluable experiences I was given so far.
I enjoy biology and would like to engage in disease prevention and wellness promotion in the future. The moment that led me to choose my current major was after doing a project under SIGHT (Student Innovation in Global Health Technology) and interning at a global health department under a Korean university. I realized that I wanted to work towards developing a practical solution and wanted to gain skill in solving real-life problems to result in an immediate impact.
What I like about Bioengineering was that the students are able to choose between 2 areas in the electives, which could help me focus on gaining a deeper insight into a field like Biomedical Data Acquisition and Analytics. Furthermore, the classes under my program consist of a small number of students and are very interactive. Thanks to the passionate professors who are very willing to listen, and make changes according to the feedback, the environment encourages me to understand what we are learning and become more passionate about the field.
