In my life thus far, one thing that I have always struggled with is making decisions. Deciding on which path I want to embark on in my tertiary studies was undoubtedly one of the difficult ones. But looking back on the point where I chose HKUST Engineering up until now, being the person that I am today, I could not be more grateful that I had made that choice.

Being a compassionate and altruistic person, I always try to find ways through which I can make a meaningful contribution, whether it is to other people’s lives or towards our environment. I want to make use of the knowledge and skills that I obtain in university for hands-on, practical applications that could help change the world for the better. It was during my first year of university that I developed an interest in environmental sustainability. Combining this with my initial inclination towards chemical engineering, I decided to major in Chemical and Environmental Engineering.

Throughout my studies at HKUST, I have drawn inspiration from a lot people — faculty members and fellow students alike — who are passionate and enthusiastic about what they do. The openness of the HKUST community and the vast amount of opportunities that HKUST offers allow me to engage in meaningful discussions with people with different interests and backgrounds. My journey at HKUST has been one towards self-discovery — there is always something new to learn every day, not only about our world we live in but also about who I am.

Coming to HKUST to study in its School of Engineering is one of the best decisions I have made, and through the Engineering Student Ambassador program, I hope that sharing my experience will be of help and inspiration to other people.
