Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Looking back on my college life in School of Engineering, I am grateful to have the opportunity to study in this world-famous university, with top-notch education, amazing professors, diverse research areas, etc. All these help strengthening my interests, building my confidence, and bringing me closer to my dream of being a professional engineer.

When I first came to HKUST as a freshman, I was stunned by the innovation-thriving atmosphere in HKUST. In my first year, I was excited to be able to take courses in various fields from different departments. It allowed me to take glimpses of different disciplines and where they may guide me to, and allowed me to explore my interests in computer science. Furthermore, the expert-oriented learning environment and tons of eye-opening opportunities also motivated me in my latter studies to step out of my comfort zone, broaden my horizon to learn things that I didn’t know, and explore wonders of engineering where I can meet with people and professors from different backgrounds and cultures. Although there were some trials, struggles, and tribulations when I was searching my way, I am confident to say that studying in the School of Engineering was definitely the best and most unforgettable experience I have ever had so far.

Joining the Engineering Student Ambassador (ESA) program is another activity that prepares me in the pursuit for my dreams in computer science field. Before joining ESA, I used to be doubtful about my interests and was frustrated with the feelings of not knowing whether I was on the right track. The ESA community helps me reclaim myself and discover my passion. It also helps me build connections with other ESAs, professors, and all the professional engineers at HKUST whom I really look up to them as role models. I feel grateful to be a part of this big family, and I hope I can contribute to this community, by sharing my passion with prospective students, and guiding them through the way toward their dreams.
