Owen Ho Wan

Studying in the School of Engineering has allowed me to try out different fields of engineering before settling on my favorite — Computer Science. I was able to take various introductory lectures or workshops related to bioengineering, robotics and laboratory work, which simultaneously enriched my university experience and affirmed my decision to choose my current major.

However, it wasn't that easy to enroll in Computer Science due to the competitiveness amongst my elite peers. I believe what got me the sufficient qualifications to meet the entry requirements would be the time I devoted into revising textbook content and studying relevant readings, with persistence along the pathway to reach my desired future.

During my studies at HKUST, I am honored to have been apprentice to one of the best lecturers here. In class, he always gives thorough explanation of each concept with lively examples and vivid figures, and is patient in clearing up students’ doubts using multiple approaches. After class, he often welcomes students to share their problems, and offers useful advice and help.

Overall, the School of Engineering provides a well-rounded learning environment with a high-quality teaching team. I would definitely recommend this as your first choice.
