Kuan-fu

As an international student from Taiwan, in fact, in the beginning I knew little about the School as its name "University of Science and Technology" was usually referred to universities that were not of the first choices for most students in Taiwan, the place I had been living in throughout my life before coming to Hong Kong. However, it was the day that changed my life. There was a university fair in Taiwan two years ago, and the booth of HKUST happened to have the greatest number of visitors. Stepping into the room, I realized how great HKUST is that a wide variety of programs are provided, including fantastic research opportunities, exchanges, and the strong bond between the School and industries, making its students well-prepared professionals whatever their future goals are, let alone its great reputation in the world. Upon those, I always know I have made the best choice.

Studying away from my home country, I feel excited about meeting people from different cultures and perspective of lives. What also excites me is the strong academic atmosphere of HKUST, and that is what makes students excellent. To me, engineering is not just a tick on the application form. Instead, it is what students are studying and endeavoring to make the world a better place by solid knowledge and innovative ideas. I feel blessed to be a part of HKUST SENG, major in Electronic and Computer Engineering, and receive training from it. As an Engineering Student Ambassador, I wish to share stories and passions of mine in engineering, introduce engineering to more and more people, and welcome students with enthusiasm in engineering to join the big family of the School of Engineering in HKUST.
