Let me start with why I chose engineering. I have shown interests in solving problems and technology since I was young. As I grew up, I found passion in engineering. Among all of the disciplines, Civil & Structural Engineering is my favourite. I am fascinated to learn more about how tall, gigantic even stylish infrastructures were built. The reason for me to choose the School of Engineering of HKUST is simple: it is a young but shinning university in HK.
Although I have only been in HKUST for one year, I found fulfillment here. Apart from gaining deeper and more interesting knowledge, I cherished opportunities which allowed me to get out of my comfort zone, such as doing public speaking. I enjoyed getting involved in outreach activities like the Information Day, where I can introduce engineering to others, mainly prospective students. It was even more wonderful when I was asked follow up questions by prospective students. I enjoyed sharing my experience with them and inspiring them, like what some of the professors here did. I hope I can have more chances to promote engineering and its interesting sides to others, not only students, but also the general public. Along with my outgoing and cheerful personalities, I take up the post of Student Ambassador at the School of Engineering, so as to introduce engineering to the general public. At the same time, I aimed to enhance my soft skills.
I love engaging in various outreach activities. I hope more people, not only students, can know more about the place where I become a better person in terms of personality and knowledge, and the place that nurtures all-round and even creative engineers.
