Stefanus William
Hi, my name is William and I major in Chemical and Environmental Engineering. I come from Indonesia, a really lovely place with warm weather and delicious food.
Looking back to when I was in high school, chemistry and physics were my favorite classes because they had labs where I could do experiments and other cool things. It really amazed me how science could be applied and used in daily life.
What I want to do in life is to help people utilizing the knowledge that I have. Of course, there are many ways to fulfill this dream, but I am interested in engineering where you can learn more about science in a practical way. And that is what I want to learn: practical things.
Although I have already found my interest in Chemical Engineering, the journey to become an engineer will not be easy, but I know it will be worth it to go through the hard process. After years in HKUST, I have found that this university has a good environment, and it offers a lot of opportunities for me to learn, such as the REDBird Award Program and the Engineering Student Ambassador program. Also, friends and faculty members here are willing to help me grow. Since I was a freshman here, I have experienced many ups and downs, and these people are what make my life in HKUST colorful.
For me as an engineer, I need to find balance in life. I am really grateful to have all of these experiences while I am studying in HKUST and I am willing to share it with other people to help them to grow too.
