Kevin Vipul

Hello! I am Kevin. Much like most people that enter the engineering stream in university, my academic interests consist mainly of physics and mathematics. However, unlike most other students that study engineering, I did not always know what I wanted to be in the future. Growing up, I had accepted the fact that I would work in my dad’s company in the future as I used to spend a lot of time there and was surrounded by talk of the trade. I simply was not able to think outside of this clear-cut path that was laid out in front of me. 

As time went on, I came to learn more about myself, I enjoyed reading about new technology especially in environment conservation, space exploration, and mobile phones. My dream is to combat climate change by using my knowledge from studying Mechanical Engineering towards discovering a more sustainable energy generation method. When time came to decide a future university and, in turn, a future, I chose HKUST School of Engineering. Besides the School of Engineering’s critical acclaim and world-class teaching facilities, it has provided me with immense opportunities to grow as a person, surrounded by intelligent engineers-to-be and allowing me to continue learning more about myself.

I hope to guide and inspire other students to follow their own dreams and goals instead of one that has already been planned out for you.
