When I first arrived at HKUST, I was passionate but also overwhelmed. The rigorous curriculum, the pace of learning, and navigating the countless opportunities felt like a complex system I didn't know how to navigate through. I found my footing through the incredible support of upper-year students and the Engineering Student Ambassador (ESA). They were my guides, guiding me through the process, offering advice on courses, and showing me how to transform theoretical knowledge into practical projects in the lab.
That experience fundamentally shaped my time here. It taught me that engineering at HKUST is more than math and physics; it's a mindset of perseverance built on a foundation of mutual support. Having benefited from that guidance, I am now deeply committed to paying it forward. My mission is to help incoming students navigate their initial challenges, from understanding the core curriculum and declaring a major to finding research and club opportunities, so they can start thriving, not just surviving, from day one.
For me, engineering is about building a better future, and that starts with building a strong, supportive community. I’m always eager to connect, share my experiences, and help pave the way for the next generation of innovators at HKUST.
