Biography

Qiong Luo is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Her research interests are in database systems, parallel and distributed systems, and high-performance computing. Current focus is on data management on modern hardware, GPU acceleration for data analytics, and database support for e-science. Prior interests include web data management, XML query processing, pervasive computing, and sensor networks. Qiong received her PhD in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002, her MS and BS in Computer Sciences from Beijing (Peking) University, China in 1997 and 1992 respectively.
