Biography

Biography

Levent Yobas received his BSc degree in electrical engineering from Hacettepe University, Turkey, MSc and PhD degrees both in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, USA. His research is mainly focused on silicon-based micro/nanofabrication technologies for life sciences, particularly lab-on-a-chip microfluidics for drug discovery and point-of-care diagnostic applications. He has published in the areas of nucleic acid analysis, patch clamp electrophysiology, droplet-based digital microfluidics, and point-of-care diagnostics.

From 2002-2010, Levent was with the Institute of Microelectronics (IME) under the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR) of Singapore, where  he served in various capacities from a senior research engineer executing technical projects to a member of the technical Staff leading the Bioelectronics Group. He also held adjunct faculty positions with Bioengineering Division at National University of Singapore (NUS) and the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Prior to Singapore, he worked in the US developing Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) for drug screening technologies. His earlier work led to a low-cost tactile display system based on an integrated silicon microvalve array.
