Biography

Biography

Prof. Yeung received his BEng degree in electrical engineering and MPhil degree in computer science from the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and PhD degree in computer science from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1989. He started his academic career as an Assistant Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. He then joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) where he is now a Chair Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. His research interests are primarily in computational and statistical approaches to machine learning and artificial intelligence. He is also interested in developing novel machine learning models for various applications particularly in computer vision, education, and recommender systems.
