"The Social Network" was the movie that flipped the switch for me! I remember it clearly—yes, that was the moment I realized I wanted to be like Mark Zuckerberg. Honestly, I had no clue what he was doing, but it just seemed so cool! I mean, he made a website to rank people's attractiveness—Facemash! I know this sounds dubious at first, but that was the primary reason I wanted to pursue engineering. Sure, I was genuinely passionate about creativity and problem-solving, but beyond that, it felt far more exciting than being just another geek!

Imagine telling people, "I’m an engineer," and their response is, "Oh, you build bridges?" Nah, I want to confidently say, "I can develop a platform that makes people question their self-worth!" Talk about a conversation starter!

So, if you haven't guessed yet, I’m currently a sophomore majoring in Computer Science and Engineering.

Now, why HKUST SENG? Well, when I was doing my applications, I wasn’t exactly aware of HKUST SENG; I was more focused on applying to schools in the USA and Canada. You know, the usual "dream big" mentality! But then I stumbled upon the fact that it’s ranked 32nd worldwide according to the QS World University Rankings 2024 and 31st according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. That definitely caught my eye!

Honestly, when I first came here, I wasn’t too thrilled about it. I was like, "Great, another school—how exciting!" I half-expected to walk into a classroom and find a chalkboard and a teacher in a tweed jacket. But now? I’m genuinely glad I made the leap. Who knew I’d be part of such a prestigious program? I went from “just another student” to “the student who might just invent the next big thing!” Or at least, that’s what my mom keeps telling me.
