As a child, I was always fascinated by how things worked. I vividly remember the day I took apart an old CRT monitor, driven by sheer curiosity. The complexity of the circuit board inside captivated me, with its oddly looking components and intricate traces. I instantly wanted to learn more about how such devices worked and how are they designed. That experience sparked my passion for engineering—a field that combines creativity and logic to bring innovative ideas to life.
HKUST has been instrumental in shaping my journey. The university has given me the opportunity to dive into a wide range of topics within electronic engineering, such as robotics, circuit designs, and nanoelectronics, while also expanding my horizons through courses in computer programming, machine learning, and even architecture. This multidisciplinary approach has enabled me to adopt a broader perspective, equipping me with the tools to tackle diverse challenges.
What sets HKUST apart is its emphasis on hands-on experiences. When I took part in programs like UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program), I get to collaborate with postgraduate students on cutting-edge research projects, further fueling my curiosity and passion for engineering. These opportunities have not only deepened my technical knowledge but also inspired me to explore new ideas and push boundaries. My time at HKUST has been transformative, in that I’ve grown academically, professionally, and personally. I am grateful for the incredible experiences and look forward to continuing my journey, creating, innovating, and contributing to the world through engineering.
