BEng in Decision Analytics
Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics

I had never gone so far away from my hometown before, so arriving in a city as dynamic and unfamiliar as Hong Kong felt like stepping into an entirely new world.

I chose HKUST because of its reputation for high-quality education, outstanding career prospects, and especially its strong engineering department. The fact that it was one of the few universities offering an extended major in Artificial Intelligence made the decision even more exciting. My passion for engineering began back in my high school days at the National School of Physics and Math, where I was certain I wanted to become an engineer, though I wasn’t yet sure in which direction. At HKUST, I appreciated the chance to explore different fields through introductory engineering courses before committing to a major. Beyond classes, I participated in career talks and interacted with advisors and industry professionals, which helped me realize that I was drawn to a discipline that blended engineering, IT, and business, leading me to choose Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics as my major.

Life at HKUST, however, is not just about academics; it has been a holistic journey. I joined several student organizations where I could organize cultural events that bring together local and international communities, and I discovered how these experiences made me feel more connected both to my peers and to Hong Kong itself. As an ambassador and content creator, I share my journey through videos of campus life, studies, and even my first exchange experience in Korea, contributing to HKUST’s official channels. What I love most is that HKUST gives me the freedom to pursue my passions, embrace my creativity, and grow academically while being part of a vibrant and inspiring community.
