Ho Yan

Growing up in the concrete jungle of Hong Kong, I have had a fascination with infrastructure since a young age. I love the city skyline and particularly enjoy watching buildings being constructed over time. One day, I hope to look at a piece of infrastructure and proudly tell my loved ones, “I helped create it.”

While I have a strong passion for civil engineering, I also love to explore other fields of interest, such as music, psychology, and photography. The HKUST School of Engineering offers an innovative and practical curriculum, providing students with hands-on experience under the supervision of world-class faculty members. It is also highly flexible and can be tailored, making it perfect for students like me who want to pursue interests outside of their intended major. The diverse community at HKUST allows students to interact with people from different backgrounds, fostering personal growth and global understanding.

This year, as an Engineering Student Ambassador (ESA), I am not only looking forward to broadening my connections with prospective engineers but also excited to share my experiences as an HKUST Engineering student. I hope to motivate those around me and bring positivity, making the world a better place step by step.
