As an engineering student ambassador at HKUST, I am proud to be part of one of the top engineering programs in the world. Choosing HKUST was an easy decision for me; my background in STEM subjects and participation in related competitions during secondary school fueled my passion for engineering. In my mind, engineers are people who do real work, and I wanted to graduate and become someone who can make meaningful contributions to society.
This thought was further cemented when I chose my major: Sustainable Energy Engineering. Although it's a less common path with a smaller cohort, I was immediately drawn to it during the major selection talks. Gaining knowledge in energy systems allows me to address critical issues in energy usage and efficiency—ranked as the top problem faced by humanity for the next 50 years by Nobel laureate Prof. Richard Smalley.
Studying at HKUST has only deepened my interest in extracurricular activities. With an extensive course catalog and over 100 student organizations, I have engaged in a variety of activities that enrich my university experience. These opportunities not only complement my studies but also make my four years here truly memorable.
