Engineering Student Ambassador, 2023-24
Class of 2025,
BEng in Mechanical Engineering
Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Throughout my time as a school student, I enjoyed problem-solving, working in teams and observing how different machines, buildings, vehicles etc., worked. The complexity behind these systems intrigued me and encouraged me to take up a path in which I could learn more about them. Not only that, the impact that engineers have in almost every aspect of modern day life and other technological advancements is what fueled my passion for engineering and to date, that passion hasn't changed a bit. So, when I joined HKUST, I was clear that I wanted to learn Engineering.

However, just like most other first-year students, I wasn't sure exactly as to which Engineering major I wanted to do. This is where the HKUST Engineering Program's flexibilitywas really crucial for me. In my first year, I had the opportunity to take introductory courses of different majors which I couldn't choose between and get an idea first-hand as to which major suited me the most. I ended up majoring in Mechanical Engineering which I believe is a really exciting and interesting major and field which plays a pivotal role in today's society. My experience studying at HKUST, one of the top-ranked universities in the world, so far, has been a great one as I have had the opportunity to try out different things, meet new people who I learn a lot on a daily basis and most importantly, have fun. Though, studying Engineering can be challenging at times, I have enjoyed every bit of the process and it has been a great learning process for every aspect of my life. I’m looking forward to learning more and grasping everything HKUST has to offer in my remaining years too!
