Hey there! I am a Malaysian student currently enrolled in the Dual Degree Program studying IELM and General Business Management, and I am happy to become an ambassador to promote engineering and HKUST to you.

After entering the college, it is quite common for me to come across people who wonder: "Why do you choose engineering but not business?" I also have several friends who asked me the same question, which makes me wonder: why do some local students regard engineering as a second class major as compared to business? Personally, I feel that engineering offers much more freedom to innovate, and the technical skills we learn from lessons are not something that could be acquired elsewhere. HKUST provides a lot of opportunities and resources for students to develop our soft skills as well, such as public speaking. These skills are very useful for my personal growth.

Looking back to the past two years in HKUST, there were so many things I have done and I am grateful for: being an emcee for the first time, joining a case competition, coding, developing a startup idea, etc. As cliché as it may sound, this is a fact that I am sure many would resonate to – college life is the time for you to step out of your comfort zone. Indeed, as we have nothing to lose.

As much as I hope to deliver the goodness of our school, it is kind of impossible without you coming here to experience it yourself. Feel free to drop me an e-mail to ask any questions, and I will try my best to help!
