Nimisha

Hi! I am Nimisha, an Indian student majoring in Computer Science at HKUST.

I got hooked on programming when I took a C++ course in eighth grade. I found it so interesting because it was very different from all my other classes. It felt as if I was learning about a whole new world. After that, choosing a degree when I was graduating from high school was easy. The difficult part was choosing the right university for me. "Should I stay in India or should I apply abroad?” “Should I choose a very large university or should I go to a smaller one?”

In the end, I made the decision of going to HKUST to complete my bachelor degree, and I am so glad I did. HKUST offers the perfect mix of the East and the West. It’s a university large enough to provide ample opportunity, but small enough for you to get to know the professors and the other faculty members closely. It offers a pool of talented students that never fail to inspire and motivate you to do your very best, and at the same time provides enough resources to relax your body and mind when you feel stressed. I have learned so much here, not just in lectures but also outside the classroom, by joining different societies and through programs such as the Engineering Student Ambassador Program. Most of all, HKUST has taught me to dream big and instilled in me the confidence that I can achieve whatever I put my mind to.
