Working on projects whose outcome has had a positive impact on societies and human lives, making living conditions better and the environment safer is the reward I was looking for in pursuing civil engineering. Addressing urbanization and sustainability challenges while promoting a vibrant sustainable economy has always been my drive and passion. I was always intrigued by how engineering provides great solutions to solve complex human challenges, and just the idea makes me extremely excited about the future of engineering. This spark of curiosity turned into a desire to use my skills to help societies and the built environment.
I joined HKUST School of Engineering (SENG) because of my desire to be a reputable civil engineer and a seasoned politician in the future. I believe the 21st century needs more technically proficient members in congress or parliament to make sound technical legislation. After some time, I found HKUST Engineering programs to be broad enough to allow me to solve complex societal issues, yet focused enough to develop my expertise and skills in the civil engineering field. Besides, SENG is known for its excellence, practical, comprehensive and advanced research in civil engineering, and has adequate facilities, highly qualified instructors, practical training opportunities, a multicultural setting, great student support services, and high market demand for SENG graduates. My experience at SENG has been overwhelming and I believe I am in the right environment for nurturing my skills and achieving my career goals.
