Hello, I am Angie, a local student majoring in Electronic Engineering.

Since I was young, I was determined to become an engineer. I always wondered how robots actually work and what the connections between mechanical, electronic, and software were, instead of just learning about theoretical science. Thus, I wanted to equip myself with more knowledge, skills and experience to accomplish my goal of being an engineer, then improve my society and other people’s lives.

Among numerous universities in the world, I chose HKUST as they provide many opportunities for students to explore and challenge themselves. Also, as a young university, the School is willing to make more changes to allow students to have a better learning environment and holistic development. Moreover, a lot of the other universities require students to decide their major before entering university. However, as a local student in Hong Kong, I did not have a lot of knowledge about all the majors offered in universities. I could have thus easily made a wrong decision and ended up in a discipline where my potential could not be unleashed. So I chose HKUST and spent one year finding out which aspect I was interested in by joining various activities and studying different major-related subjects. After one year at HKUST, I am sure that I have made the right choice.
