I have always been and will continue to be fascinated by airplanes. I vividly remember being on a massive A380 which encountered some pretty severe turbulence. How was such a large feat of engineering tossed around so easily by the wind? Better yet, how was this chunk of metal in the air anyways??

HKUST’s Aerospace Engineering program was a perfect fit for me. I want to work in Hong Kong, and I needed a rigorous program at a school with a good reputation locally. I haven’t looked back since. From discussing my home flight simulator hobby with a professor in my first semester, to taking challenging program specific courses, it has been such a joy, gift and privilege studying at HKUST.

As a “non local local” (I’m Korean), I was quite worried that I wouldn’t settle into the university life at HKUST easily. Despite living here for 18 years, I don’t speak a lick of cantonese. However, at several orientation days and events, Engineering Student Ambassadors' were among the few people with a friendly and approachable demeanour, and they ended up really encouraging me in my early days at UST. When I was given the chance to sign up to join them, and to serve the next cohort, I didn’t hesitate.
