Engineering, to me, represents the broadest and most dynamic toolkit a person can acquire. It combines skills from a variety of disciplines—sciences, mathematics, arts, and design—giving engineers the unique ability to approach problems from multiple perspectives. What excites me most is that engineering is fundamentally about thinking creatively and solving real-world challenges. Whether it’s coding a website, designing a bridge, or bringing a robot to life, the impact of engineering is immediate and tangible. My experience at HKUST has reinforced this perspective. The courses here equip me with the tools and mindset necessary to make a real difference. Though some classes are demanding, I am confident that the skills I am developing will empower me to solve urgent problems and contribute meaningfully to society. Furthermore, the support and opportunities provided by both the engineering department and the career center have been invaluable in guiding me toward a career that genuinely aligns with my interests. Seminars, guest lectures, and recruitment events hosted by engineering firms have exposed me to a diverse range of industries where my skills can be applied. Through these experiences, I have gained a clearer understanding of my career aspirations and a deeper appreciation for the paths available to engineers. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow as an engineer in such a motivating environment.
