Studying at HKUST has been a transformative experience, blending rigorous academics with a vibrant, international community. I chose HKUST for its tech-focused excellence and Hong Kong’s status as a global economic hub. The engineering curriculum, though demanding, emphasised on practical learning through lab projects and hands-on assignments. Appending onto this, supportive professors and TAs guided me through challenges regardless of the time. Over here, I had the opportunity to indulge in state-of-the-art research and innovation facilities encrichening my learning experience. Beyond academics, the clubs and associations were really helpful in progressing my experiential journey, from Red Bird racing to the sustainability team. Apart from this, the picturesque hillside views overlooking Clear Water Bay and the dynamic ecosystem of the campus augmented my overall journey. As an international student, I formed lifelong friendships with peers from over 80 countries through dorm mixers and study abroad programs. During my first semester, homesickness was a common issue for me and slowly eased by supportive dorm mates who made HKUST feel like home. Apart from that, I indulged myself in multiple opportunistic programs offered by the university including HKSTP, Cathay seminars and Jensen Huang’s UST visit, which truly broadened my perspective. Personally, HKUST fostered my growth beyond academics. Despite the rigorous semesters, the sense of accomplishment after exams was rewarding beyond imagination. Over the year, I have evolved from an under confident individual to an assuring, adaptable professional. HKUST’s holistic environment, which blends academic rigor, global connections, and personal growth, has equipped me with skills and memories to tackle real-world challenges, prepare me for a future of endless possibilities.
