Biography

Biography

Prof Matthew McKay received the combined BE degree in Electrical Engineering and BIT degree in Computer Science from the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, in 2002, and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2006. Upon completing his PhD he was a Research Scientist at the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia. In 2007, he joined the faculty within the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where he is currently a Professor. He is also a member of the Center for Wireless Information Technology at HKUST.

Some of his academic achievements include being awarded a 2006 Best Student Paper Award at IEEE ICASSP'06 (the premier IEEE conference on signal processing); being jointly awarded the 2006 Best Student Paper Award at IEEE VTC'06-Spring (the premier IEEE conference on vehicular technologies); and receiving the University Medal upon graduating from the Queensland University of Technology.
