Biography

Biography

Prof. Irene LO received her PhD degree in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992. She is an elected Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) and the first Hong Kong scholar inducted into the EASA. She is an elected Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE), and elected Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (FASCE). She was also Adjunct Professor of Tongji University, Tianjin University, Jilin University and Harbin Institute of Technology in China. She had been Visiting Professor of Technical University of Denmark and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Prof. Lo has been appointed as a Justice of Peace (JP) by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2017. Her research interests include nanotechnology for environmental application, wastewater treatment, soil and groundwater remediation, solid waste treatment and disposal, fate and transport of nanoparticles.
